Loss, by Wendy Cope
arthur in the dark

In honour of Last Serious Relationship Man, who left four years (four years) ago this week.

The day he moved out was terrible -
That evening she went through hell.
His absence wasn’t a problem
But the corkscrew had gone as well.

I love Wendy Cope! We managed to get her to do a reading at the College where I work a few years ago - she was really good with the students and read lots of poems, including this one.

Sorry this particular poem resonates for you, though. It really is a bugger when the corkscrew disappears. ;)

hah hah. God bless screw caps on wine bottles.

My very favourite poem of hers is 'Defining the Problem' but it wouldn't be true of Last Serious Relationship Man or even Last Disasterous Fling Man anymore.

NB I am not in Horsham, that was LJ's little joke.

I went out with a guy from Horsham once. [/random]
